The Ogun State Police Command has detained a 23-year-old that reside in Owode-Ijako, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, Salaudeen Issa, for murdering his lover Kemi Ilo, over separation threat.
It was gathered that the man inflicted injuries on Kemi’s head by using a cutlass around 4 am on Sunday morning and left her in a pool of blood. The man’s attack on Kemi was because of the dispute between them that occurred a few days ago. Before the attack, Kemi’s mum warned the suspect on Saturday not to go near her daughter.
Issa who had made a vow to deal with his lover, fulfilled his threat when she slept at her friend’s house on Saturday to avoid any trouble. The man sneaked into the room, then attacked her with a cutlass and ran away.
Confirming the incident, a resident who is known as Femi told Punch’s correspondent, that the 25-year-old woman was being rushed to two hospitals before she passed away on the way to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, Lagos.
“The lovers have a history of violence. They would fight and reconcile again. There was a time that they had a disagreement. He went to her house in anger, but did not meet her. He peeped from the window and saw her child sleeping on a bed close to the window.
“He tore the window net with a razor blade and used the blade to slice the child’s back. He was reported to a community leader who mediated between the parties.
“When they fought again last week, her mother called him on the telephone and told him that she did not want to see him with her daughter again. It was on Sunday morning I learnt that she was attacked and the family said he was responsible for it.
“She was rushed to a private hospital from where she was referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos. She was being taken to LUTH in an ambulance when she died” he said.
A Police source, on the other hand, has confirmed Issa’s arrest revealed that Kemi’s mother, Tawakalitu Ilo, received a phone call from her daughter’s friend, Mariam, around 4 am that she was being attacked.
