A female Corp member named Linda Angela Igwetu was allegedly shot dead by a SARS officer in the early hours of today in Abuja.

Linda, who would have passed out tomorrow, hung out with friends last night to celebrate her passing out and left for home early this morning. On her  way home, a police officer shot at the car she was in and she was hit.

Linda was immediately rushed to Garki hospital but they refused to treating her without a police report, despite police officers being present.  The young corper eventually bled to death.

  1. I don’t even know what to say now. This is terrible. It is high time the excesses of these our military personnel checked. The medical personnel have not done any better at all. I am really disappointed in them, at least they could have saved her life first before talking about police reports. so sad we had to loose another promising Nigerian.

  3. this is where I have problem with system of things in this country, how could you stand to watch someone die without doing anything? tomorrow you will state that your priority is saving lives. am ashamed of the way we represent our reputation. and for all this armed force people can we be kind enough handle our weapon with care!

  4. The hospital staffers on duty are accessories to 1st degree murder. Reverse logic. Where does a man get a police report at 3am? Does bleeding stop until a police report is obtained?

  5. Why do we have hospitals? To save lives right? especially emergency cases like this. Why didn’t they try to stop the bleeding before waiting for police report? You stand there and watch someone’s life drain by the minute and you say you need police report before attending to her even with the presence of the police officer(s) there, and at 3 am? Where and how would they get that report? To the police officer who shot at the vehicle: what is your duty? Why were you appointed as an officer? To protect the citezenry right? You fired a shot without full confirmation and realised the mistake you did afterwards. Why would you play with a bullet like that? If you wanted to test the bullet, you should have gone to an open space and fired the shot. Now an innocent girl has to pay the price of your mistake with her life. Both the hospital and the officer are responsible. I would like this petition to be passed, “no police report before treatment” hospitals and clinics should commence treatment of a patient before requesting police report. The police report can come afterwards. My heart goes out to the family of the deceased. May God give you the grace and strength to bear the loss. My condolence.
