A student of DELSU, Abraka has committed suicide after he performed badly in his final year exams and was giving two semesters extension by the school authorities which is an extra year.
The late Orumah Efemena, of the Pharmacy Department, drank two sniper bottles on Wednesday when he found out that he would be having an extra year in school.
Punch newspaper reported that this was the second time the victim would be repeating the class as a Pharmacy student.
Some unknown students in his department confirmed the sad incident, saying that the deceased was having depression after he found out that he had been placed on probation for another academic session.
Orumah Efemena, who was the first child of his parents, had also been criticized by his father based on his poor result.
He was found lifeless in his room in the hostel where he lived. He was taken to the university health centre where he was declared dead.
A DELSU lecturer who also confirmed the ugly incident, Punch newspaper reports, said medical report showed that the student took substances that were assumed to be a sniper as two empty containers of the product were found in his room.
Another student known as Amaka said,
“He was previously in class the day he died. He looked very happy and he exchanged jokes with his course mates. Some of his friends were even with him at home but after they left, he drank sniper and died.”
Amaka added that the late Orumah had since been buried on Thursday.
When Mr. Freeborn Aganbi, DELSU’s Public Relations Officer, was contacted, he neither confirmed nor denied the incident. Punch newspaper reports he, told their correspondent to give him time in order to provide details concerning the incident.
