The governors of the 36 states of Nigeria have finally reached an agreement to pay N22,500 as the new minimum wage to workers.
The new minimum wage was agreed upon after a three-hour meeting all the governors under the umbrella of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) had in Abuja today Tuesday October 30th.
The minimum wage is currently N18,500. The Nigerian Labour Congress is however demanding that the Minimum wage be increased to N30,000.
More details coming later!
I do not see any thing difficulty for governors to pay #30000 minimum wage, I see their concensu agreement as deliberate wickedness of the highest order Looking at the present rate of inflation on the prices of things. Let politicians salaries be based on the rating of grade level. Every body attended the same school as they do. They should be considerate and have a rethink about the welfare of Nigeria’s.
The federal Government of Nigeria has rejected the #22,500. So, let them come up with something better.
Labour should not agree to that amount let them pay that 30000 in question what is the big deal in it.
Pls let labour accept this so that we can move forward. It is even going to be difficult paying this for more than 80 percent of the states.
Make minimum wage the only renumeration applicable to politicians and watch the figure skyrocket. There is no difficulty in it, its just the political will thats lacking..
Thank you Imo. Let governors start receiving salaries based on grade level and their certificates and let’s see what will happen.
