Gunmen Have killed 7 people in Plateau State

Seven people have been killed in a new attack by gunmen that are suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in a relaxation spot at Nding community of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident which happened around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night has claimed the lives of six men and a woman who sells at the relaxation centre where the villagers usually buy their local drinks.

An eyewitness has informed Daily Sun that the victims were not conscious of the gunmen who invaded the relaxation centre. The gunmen shot sporadically in which they have killed seven people while several other persons were running in different areas to secure their lives.

Tyopev Matthias Terna, Police Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Command, has also confirmed that five people were killed by the suspected gunmen and three others were all injured during the incident.

He said his office hasn’t gotten full details of the attack and they have promised to inform our reporter as soon as he gets the full details.

Matthias Terna also noted that a mining well has also killed two people on Saturday in Wase Local Government Area of the state. He gave their names as follows: Safianu Yinusa from Kangial villages, Dengi Kanam LGA and Usman Abdullahi of Gwaram village of Bashar District of Wase LGA.

Hon. Peter Gyendeng, who is a Member representing Barkin-Ladi State Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, has condemned the killing of the seven people and enjoined security agencies to look for the perpetrators.

Hon. Edward Pwajok (SAN), a member representing Jos South Jos East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, also described the alleged attack as ‘barbaric and unfortunate’.

He said the new killing arrived at a time that the Local Government is enjoying the returned of peace after several decades of violence and attacks.

Pwajok enjoined the people to remain law-abiding and report any suspicious people or illegal movement of strange persons that they come across in the community to secure the agencies.

He condoled the families of the dead persons and pray to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
