The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the 2023 presidential election will hold on February 18, 2023.

INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement earlier today Thursday, October 15, while delivering a goodwill message at the inauguration of the special Adhoc committee on the review of the 1999 constitution.

Nigeria’s electoral commission delayed the presidential election until Feb. 23, making the announcement a mere five hours before polls were set to open Saturday. It cited unspecified “challenges” amid reports that voting materials had not been delivered to all parts of the country. (AP Photo)

Prof Mahmood while speaking to the members of the House of Representatives, said there were still 855 days left before the next general election in the country.

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the federal Government, urged the committee to pick things they can handle and avoid their things  that will halt the process and destabilize the electoral process.
