The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) suspended elections in Rivers State “until further notice”.

In a statement issued today Sunday March 10th by Festus Okoye, Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, based the commission’s decision on “widespread disruption of elections” in the governorship and state house of assembly elections held on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

The commission met and took the decision in line with Section 26 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and Clause 47(e) of the Regulations and Guidelines of the Commission.
