Lagos State Government on Wednesday said that no effort would be spared in order to ensure the logical conclusion of the cases that were filed in court against Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, fondly called Evans.
Evans, who was detained at his mansion in Magodo area of Lagos last year, is being prosecuted by the State Government in court alongside others for carrying out and executing series of high kidnappings and murder in Lagos State.
Mr Adeniji Kazeem, The State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, who said this at the Ministerial Press that was held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa as part of activities celebrating the third year anniversary of Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration, said that the State Government was dedicated to ensuring the logical conclusion of all pending cases in court and serve justice to the people.
Kazeem said,
“On the Evans’ matter, the cases filed against him are ongoing in court. The issue is that the lawyer representing him is trying to play some games to delay the matter but in all his games, we have been defeating him in court.
We have filed different cases. Some are for kidnapping and some bordered on murder and his lawyer is fighting all the cases but what I can assure the people is that we are committed to ensure the matter is concluded and defeat him at the end of the day.”
Evans, who became popular after he was caught. His real name is Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, is a Nigerian kidnapping kingpin. Who hails from Nnewi, Anambra state, is often tagged as “The Billionaire Kidnapper”.
This is based on the reason that men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) are of the opinion that he is one of the wealthy criminals in the kidnapping venture in Nigeria.
The Inspector General of Police, Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria police force also labeled the kidnap kingpin as a very crafty, and intelligent kidnapper who have successfully evaded detain for four years even though he was on a most wanted list in three states namely Lagos State, Edo State, and Anambra State).
