Giving an update on the matter the length at which Nigerian Police has gone to recover the Senate mace that was stolen, deputy public relations officer Aremu Adeniran, said the mace was recovered where the hoodlums left it at a point under the flyover before the City Gate. According to him, a patriotic passer-by saw it, and got the police alerted.

Aremu further revealed that an organised investigation into the incident is still ongoing to detain and bring those that are involved in this act to justice, following the 24 hours order given to the Inspector General of Police on Wednesday by the Senate, to bring the mace and also detain suspects behind the theft.

The names of the hoodlums who snatched the Senate mace earlier today has appeared after they were detained by the FCT, Abuja Police Command.

The suspects gained entrance into the Senate by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as a protest against his suspension.

The hoodlums are supporters of a suspended senator, Ovie Omo-Agege. They left the National Assembly and entered a black SUV car with the mace.

Yesterday Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba, who blasted Nigerian Politicians over the incident that happened, said if culprits who had made the same moves in the past were punished, the incident wouldn’t have occurred again.

According to Ali Baba, some will snatch the ballot box because, Kamoru did it in Osun state and nothing happened.
