Nigerian singer, Niniola, who is currently in South Africa promoting her latest single ‘Magun’, featuring South African singer Busiswa, was reportedly robbed on Wednesday night, at McDonald’s restaurant in Grayston drive,Sandton.
The ‘sicker’ crooner was having a meal with two other friends when they were attacked by a gang of three armed robbers at the popular restaurant.
According to an eyewitness, Niniola’s bag and cell phone was taken, while two of her friends were robbed of jewelry and cash worth R300,000 (N8,515,966.53)
Captain Granville Meyer, Sandton police spokesman, confirmed that a case of robbery was opened by Niniola’s friend on Wednesday night, Sowetanlive reported.
Meyer said the complainant alleged that he came from Sandton City after shopping and went to McDonald’s, where they were robbed by three men. “Jewellery and cash to an estimated value of R300000 was taken,” Meyer added.
McDonald’s chief of marketing and communications Daniel Padiachy confirmed that the incident took place and said no other customers or employees was injured during the robbery.
“The safety of our customers and staff remains our first priority and we are working closely with the relevant authorities in the investigation,” Padiachy said.
