Media personality, Toke Makinwa took to social media yesterday morning to mourn her father on his posthumous birthday.
The controversial author of the book ‘On becoming’ wrote an emotional message to her father via Instagram, who passed away after a fire incident at their home when he was only 35.
Happy birthday to my first love. I stood in the shadows, scared for my dear life, I stood in the dark too afraid to let you see me. I watched them gather around, I watched as they put the fire from your pants out.
You seemed ok, you walked right past me and all I wanted was a hug but I was too afraid, the darkness was my comfort. I knew my life had changed, uncertain what would come next. Was it all a dream?
Had I known it’ll be the last time I’ll see you or hear your voice; I would have begged you to stay, I would make good grades dad, I’ll be obedient, please stay.
I would have told you how much I love you, daddy, you broke down the doors with your bare hands so we could run to safety, that’s who you were. I love you but God needed you early, heaven couldn’t wait for you, Caleb.
I’ll honor you forever, even as you are no more Dad…..
Life hasn’t been easy without you but God has been faithful.
November 7th, a star was born.
Always with me, always in my thoughts and prayers. Watch over us and pray for us too. #Scorpio
