Pastor Ifeanyi Nwachukwu who’s in-charge of Live By Faith Church, Ogbagu, in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state, has been detained by officers that are attached to the Imo State Police Command, for his participation in the kidnapping of a Damian Oluwa who is just one-year-old.

Ify Ezeudeogu, the command’s Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, who informed newsmen on the arrest of Pastor Ifeanyi, also revealed that he was detained alongside a 23-year-old man, whose name is Miracle Emenekwuru, of Ifakala, Mbaitoli LGA, who is also a part of a four-man gang who abducted the little boy.

The suspects who had entered Ebere’s apartment at Egbu, Owerri, around 2 am, and abducted the child after robbing his mother, also went away with her ATM cards. The Police spokesperson said though N627,000 was paid as a ransom fee for the boy to set free.

“On Saturday, around 2am, a gang of armed robbers and kidnap suspects invaded the apartment of one Vivian Ebere.

“The hoodlums robbed the victim and collected her ATM cards and eventually kidnapped her 17 months old baby, Damian Oluwa.

“The hoodlums later called the boy’s mother for ransom. The sum of N627,000 was collected from the family.”

“The FSARS operatives, acting on intelligence and constructive digital analysis, swooped on the assailants on Maduwuba Avenue, Orji, Owerri, arrested the two suspects and rescued the kidnapped child,” the Police PRO said.

Punch had reported that the baby’s mother revealed that the five days her child has stayed with the suspects the family were all having nightmares because of the boy, as she further confirmed that after the family had paid the first money that they were told to pay before the suspect demanded an additional sum of  N200,000.

The Pastor who feigned ignorance of knowing the boy who was kept in his house was abducted, said when he queried one of the major suspect, one Kechi Ogobuiro, who was at large, on how he came about the boy, he (Ogobuiro) lied to him. According to him Ogobuiro, was the son of his child’s godmother.

“He said he impregnated a woman who lived with her parents in Umuahia. He said his girlfriend handed over the boy to him,” he added.
