A policeman has been arrested in Adamawa state for allegedly shooting dead a motorcyclist for refusing to pay N100 bribe at a checkpoint in Maiha local government of the state.
According to report, the security operative killed the 20-year-old commercial motorcycle operator, and he has been identified as police corporal, Richard Zaphet. The incident sparked off a crisis in Wuro-ba Adamu village but has since been brought under control.
Sulaiman Nguroje, the state police command spokesperson confirmed the incident on Wednesday June 3. He said the arrested police officer is now facing investigation.
“Yes the policeman in question Cpl. Richard Zaphet has since been arrested and brought to the State CID.
“The commissioner of police has directed an assistant commissioner of police to investigate and report for immediate action. The command assures all and sundry that justice will be done on the matter.”
