A suspected officer of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) allegedly shot official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) dead.
The sad incident happened on Wednesday at Iyana-Ipaja round about at about 6pm.
According to report, The LASTMA official flagged him down for traffic issue, the officer got down and warned the traffic official never to stop him again, adding that he didn’t have right to do so.
They started exchanging words, the angry officer returned to his car, brought out a gun and shot the traffic official. Many ran for safety at the sound of the gun.
The officer’s identity is yet to be ascertained, but reports says he has been arrested.
Eyewitnesses said the officer drove an SUV.
The alleged killer was first taken Moshalashi Police Station along Ipaja Road before being transferred to State Command in Ikeja GRA.
The LASTMA official was rushed to Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. His remains have since been deposited in a mortuary in Yaba, Lagos.
Public Relations Officer of LASTMA Mahmud Hassan confirmed the incident.
Hassan said investigation is ongoing and will get on the identity of both the dead traffic official and the officer that shot him.
