Yesterday afternoon, Saudi prince died in a helicopter crash near Yemeni border. Prince Mansour Bin Muqrin was killed in the helicopter crash “while carrying an inspection in remote parts of the governorate,” a spokeswoman for the Saudi embassy in Washington told NBC News.

The prince, who’s the son of an ex-crown prince, Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz who was kept aside by his stepbrother King Salman a few months after he emerged the throne in 2015, was traveling with a team of other government officials in a helicopter, whose fate remains unknown.

The Dubai-based satellite Al-Arabiya’s news reported seven other people also died in the helicopter crash. Prince Mansour was the son of Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz, an ex-intelligence director and a previous crown prince of the kingdom.

Before the helicopter crash, Saudi officials said they had stopped an atomic missile near Riyadh’s airport on Saturday that was fired from war-torn Yemen.
