The Notorious Kidnapper Evans Begs Court For Bail


The suspected multi-billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans, has filed a request with the Lagos state high court seeking in search of bail and for his case to be given a fast hearing.

He has been tried on numerous counts of criminal charges bothering on suspected conspiracy, murder, and kidnapping.

Evans who is inside Kirikiri Maximum Prison has pleaded not guilty to the allegation put against him.

At the sitting of the allegation, his trial on Friday, his application for his bail was, however, given a deaf ear by the persecuting counsel who labeled him as an abuse of court process and an attempt to frustrate the trial.

The Lagos state director of public prosecutions, Titilayo Shitta-Bay, labeled the bail application, seeking fast to hearing filed alongside an application seeking to quash the charges as conflicting, confusing and an abuse of court processes.

While court proceedings are still underway, report has it that Evans may be sentenced to death or get life imprisonment after the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode signed into law, the state kidnapping prohibition bill, 2016 which prescribes life imprisonment or the death penalty for the offense of Kidnapping and forceful extortion in Lagos State.

Literally, the bill – which was passed in by the Lagos State House of Assembly on January 5, 2017 – which provides the death penalty for kidnappers whose victims die in their custody and life imprisonment for the act of kidnapping.
