A tragedy has occurred at No 6, Road 1, Eyin Ala, Akure in Ondo State as two brothers known as Olufemitan Olaitan, 9; and Oluwafifunmi Olaitan, 7, were found lifeless inside a condemn deep freezer in their house.
The dead body of the kids was found dead by their mum Olubunmi Olaitan, who notify people by raising an alarm shortly after she came home on Monday.
Confirming the incident, Mr. Femi Joseph, the state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) who described the incident as being unfortunate, said that there was no trace that the boys were detained and no arrest has been made so far.
“We did not suspect any foul play because it appears as if the kids were playing inside the deep freezer and they were locked up in the process, while there was nobody at home to open the door for them” he said.
Recall that we reported that residents of 53 Obakhavbaye Street in Benin City and environs went into mourning after the body of Abdulaziz, an 8-month-old baby was discovered dead inside a four-feet water drum just after his mother stepped out.
The incident happened after the mother of the baby went out to ease around 6 am. Upon her return, it was gathered that the mother couldn’t find her baby where she left him. After three hours of searching around the house for her baby, the baby was discovered dead inside a water drum. Ali Abubakar, the landlord of the house, said he was observing his prayers when he heard shoutings.
Ali said he went downstairs only to discover that Abdulaziz died inside a drum of water.
“It is difficult for that baby to open that drum and enter inside. We don’t know what happened yet but it is a mystery.”
A neighbor who gave her name as Blessing Akpo said it was only God that would unravel the baby’s killers. “I have never seen where a baby that is eight months old will open a drum of water, enter inside and close it.”
