A few days ago, a report came that ex-US first lady Barbara Bush has gone six feet. She passed away on Tuesday last week at the age of 92. She was the head figure of a political dynasty that included two presidents – her husband George W Bush and son George W Bush.
The ex-first lady Barbara buried at her husband’s presidential library in Texas, in a funeral that had over 1,500 people in attendance on Saturday in Houston.
Family spokesman Jim McGrath said the ceremony was ‘a very brief but poignant and beautiful ending to a very moving and incredible day’.
‘It would have been exactly what Barbara Bush wanted,’ McGrath added.
The elder Bush and the couple’s son, ex-president George W. Bush, were among the four ex-US presidents at the burial.
Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were both in attendance, along with other four ex-first ladies. Ex-first ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton attended the service and were also joined by the incumbent First Lady Melania Trump.
DailyMail has reported that President Donald Trump was not available at the funeral, but instead watched from Mar-a-Lago out of ‘respect’ for the Bush family and to ‘avoid disruptions due to added security’. George H.W. Bush honoured his wife’s work promoting literacy with a subtle fashion statement: socks covered in books.
Barbara Bush has been buried in a gated plot at her spouse’s presidential library located at Texas A&M University in College Station, which is approximately 100 miles from Houston.
The couple’s daughter Robin was also buried there. She was three years old when she died of leukemia in the year 1953. Hundreds of people lined both sides of the street when the funeral procession passed.
The motorcade has left Houston after the private funeral at the St. Martin’s Episcopal Church where Barbara and her spouse regularly attended. Several dozen of people has watched from a parking garage across the street from the university’s football and baseball stadiums, which were decorated in a large American flag and a Texas flag.
